Aldeia da Pedralva, near Vila do Bispo, is one of the most interesting places I’ve visited in the Algarve.
In 2006, the village had only 9 inhabitants left and many of the houses were in ruins. Over the years, the village was restored house by house, trying to keep the original Algarve style.
Today, you can stay in the old white houses, walk through the quiet streets and experience a very different side of the Algarve.
Pedralva is also a good base to explore the Costa Vicentina and some of the most beautiful beaches in the region like Praia da Bordeira, Praia do Amado and Praia da Cordoama.
The Rota Vicentina hiking trails also pass nearby, which makes the area popular with hikers and cyclists.
