Primavera has been serving grilled chicken in Lisbon for more than 60 years.Located on Rua Morais Soares, in Arroios, it is a traditional neighbourhood restaurant and, for many Lisbon locals, one of the classic places in the city for Portuguese grilled chicken.
The restaurant serves other traditional dishes, particularly grilled meat, but most people come here for the chicken.
The classic choice is frango na brasa, grilled over charcoal. Primavera is also known for its frango no espeto, cooked on a rotating spit,
Grilled chicken may not be one of the first dishes tourists think about when visiting Portugal, but it is something I always recommend trying. It is simple, affordable and very much part of everyday Portuguese food.
It is normally served with fries and rice. If that feels like too many carbs, just ask for a salad instead.
And don't forget the piri-piri. You'll find it on the table, so add as much as you like.
Enjoy!
