Pastelaria Versailles: One of Lisbon’s Best Pastry Shops for Over 100 Years

Pastelaria Versailles: One of Lisbon’s Best Pastry Shops for Over 100 Years

Pastelaria Versailles has been part of Lisbon since 1922.
Located on Avenida da República, it was the first large café in the Avenidas Novas area and quickly became an important meeting place for the families living in this new part of the city. More than a century later, it is still very much alive.

The interior is a big part of the experience.
High ceilings, large mirrors, marble, chandeliers, Art Nouveau inspired furniture, paintings by Benvindo Ceia and carved woodwork by Fausto Fernandes give Versailles the feeling of a classic European café.

You can come for breakfast, lunch, coffee or simply stand at the counter and choose something from the pastry display. And if you prefer something savoury, the croquetes are one of the classics.
