It is a simple place, but the view is powerful. You have the cliffs, the Atlantic Ocean and a lot of wind, even in summer.
The area was important for navigation during the Age of Discovery, and the lighthouse was built in 1772. It is one of the oldest lighthouses still operating in Portugal.
You can also see the stone monument with the famous line by Luís de Camões:
“Here, where the land ends and the sea begins.”
What to do there:
Visit the viewpoint and the monument
Walk near the cliffs, but be careful with the wind
See the lighthouse from outside
Stop for a coffee near the viewpoint
If you have a car, you can also combine Cabo da Roca with Praia da Adraga or Azenhas do Mar.
Both are nearby and worth the stop.
One important tip: bring a jacket. Even in summer, Cabo da Roca can be cold and very windy.
