In northern Portugal, near the town of Arouca, there's a pedestrian suspension bridge stretching 516 metres across the Paiva River, 175 metres above the water.
Opened in 2021, the 516 Arouca is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world.
One of its most unusual features is the metal grid floor, which allows you to look straight down at the river beneath your feet.
The bridge is located inside the Arouca UNESCO Global Geopark, surrounded by mountains, steep cliffs and beautiful views over the Paiva Valley.
It's also close to the famous Passadiços do Paiva, a wooden walkway along the river, although part of the route is currently closed.
🎟️ Tickets: €12 per adult, including a guided visit. Booking online is required.
