Livraria Bertrand (1732)
Located in Chiado, Bertrand is recognised by Guinness World Records as the oldest bookstore in the world still operating. Nearly 300 years later, you can still walk in and buy a book.
Martinho da Arcada (1782)
The oldest café in Lisbon, located in Praça do Comércio. It became famous for its connection to Fernando Pessoa, who was a regular customer and still has a table dedicated to him.
Caza das Vellas Loreto (1789)
One of the most unusual historic shops in Lisbon. It has been producing and selling candles for more than two centuries and is still operating in Chiado today.
Confeitaria Nacional (1829)
One of Portugal's oldest pastry shops. It is famous for traditional Portuguese pastries and for helping popularise Bolo Rei, the traditional Christmas cake.
Pastéis de Belém (1837)
Founded in 1837, this is the original home of the famous custard tart known as Pastel de Belém. Nearly 190 years later, people still queue outside every day.
