Travelling is (or should be) about experiences. And Lisbon is full of them.
Some of these places are famous, others are much more local, but together they will help you experience a different side of the city.
If you've already visited Lisbon, how many of these have you done? And what would you add to the list?
1. Watch the sunset from Miradouro da Senhora do Monte.
2. Have a traditional Portuguese breakfast at Pastelaria Versailles.
3. Eat a bifana with a cold beer at Parreirinha do Chile.
4. Visit the Quake Museum and learn how the 1755 earthquake changed Lisbon forever.
5. Visit the Gulbenkian Museum and have a picnic in the beautiful gardens.
6. Take the train from Cais do Sodré and spend the afternoon at Praia da Rainha in Cascais.
7. Get lost in the narrow streets of Alfama.
8. Try Bacalhau à Brás at Laurentina, O Rei do Bacalhau.
9. Eat snails in the summer. Júlio dos Caracóis is one of the city's classics.
10. Listen to live fado on a Sunday afternoon at Tasca do Jaime.
11. Cross the river by ferry and eat grilled fish at Cova Funda.
12. Spend a morning at Estufa Fria.
13. Walk inside São Jorge Castle and enjoy one of the best views over Lisbon.
14. Visit Feira da Ladra on a Tuesday or Saturday morning.
15. Take a photo in front of Belém Tower.
16. Decide for yourself: which pastel de nata is better, Manteigaria or Pastéis de Belém?
17. Try roasted chestnuts from a street vendor if you visit during autumn.
18. Eat a bitoque at Jorge da Amália.
19. Walk around Madragoa and admire some of Lisbon's most beautiful tiled buildings.
20. Finish the day with an ice cream at Gelados Conchanata in Alvalade.
