10 places and experiences I personally recommend in Lisbon

Today I would like to make a more direct post with some places and experiences I recommend in Lisbon, both for visitors and for people who live here.

I’m also curious to know your recommendations.

A local restaurant

Cantinho do Alfredo

Who follows my posts already knows that I’m a big fan of tascas and this is one of my favourites.

A modern restaurant without Michelin prices

Canalha

Creative Portuguese food, good wine and a relaxed atmosphere.

Seafood without waiting lines

Penalva da Graça

Everyone talks about Ramiro or Pinóquio but for seafood in central Lisbon without huge waiting lines Penalva da Graça is great.

A pastry shop

Pastelaria Versailles

They have a huge variety of Portuguese pastries that allow people to try much more than pastel de nata and the place itself is beautiful.

A museum

My favourite museum is Gulbenkian but while it’s closed I recommend the Quake Museum. It’s interactive and very interesting to understand today’s Lisbon.

A garden

Jardim Monteiro-Mor

Still unknown even to many locals and one of the most beautiful gardens in the city.

A day trip

Lisbon has many great day trips. Sintra and Cascais are probably the most famous but I also recommend Tomar.

A bar

Casa Independente

Good atmosphere and one of those places where people stay for hours drinking and talking.

A café / cultural space

Padaria do Povo

Good atmosphere, younger crowd and one of those places where people stay for hours.

Nightlife

For those tired of Bairro Alto and Cais do Sodré, I think the Marvila area has become a great alternative in recent years.

A rooftop

Ruby Rosa

Beautiful rooftop, relaxed atmosphere and a great view over Lisbon.

What places would you add to this list?
